Location: London Hybrid Working The Division The Housing and Regeneration team is one of the largest in the country, and advises on all types of development transactions—from forward funded schemes, s106 acquisitions, golden brick transactions, land led schemes, options/conditional contracts, overage provisions and large scale estate regeneration schemes, and stock rationalisations to general asset management work. It also has a very successful housing management department supporting housing associations with landlord/tenant matters. The Role and Responsibilities We are seeking a self-motivated and committed Senior Associate to join our team working on development projects primarily but a background in security charging, stock transfer, and leasehold projects would be useful also. The main duties will be to: · investigate title and report to clients; · acquire sites / land / properties for the purpose of providing residential housing together with the relevant development agreement to ensure the client's objectives are achieved; · deal with complicated title, planning, estate management and infrastructure issues and leasehold projects; · work closely with the plot sales, assets, planning and securitisation teams to ensure that the client's objectives are achieved; · managing a caseload of important and sensitive cases; · provide on hand technical support to paralegals and transaction handlers to ensure that clients' service deadlines for exchanges are met; · maintaining and streamlining working procedures to enable a smooth delivery of service to clients; · dealing professionally and articulately with client enquiries and communications, demonstrating at all times a sound understanding and knowledge of the nature of the client's business and the relevant affordable housing sales product; · to understand the ethos of the Housing sector and assist in the attainment of key performance indicators and other quality standards required by the Housing clients; · Establishing strong relationships with the team's clients and being the escalation point for complex matters and ensuring that the client requirements are properly implemented by the team; · Delivering training to clients and internally to team members; and · Provide support to the rest of the Development team; and · Any other duties as reasonably requested. Skills and Experience The successful candidate is likely to have previous experience within a development, real estate or generalist property profession in legal or professional services and will be able to demonstrate: · Experience in property - both leasehold and freehold · Experience in development and regeneration · Knowledge and understanding of affordable housing products, regulation and procedures Knowledge and experience that would be beneficial for this role includes: · Acquisition of new build homes; · Acquisition of sites for development · Knowledge of the housing sector, including the HE grant programme requirements and particular contractual structures to enable development of affordable homes by registered providers of housing for rent, shared ownership or outright sale; · Mortgage lender requirements in residential stock; · Investigation of title and reporting work; Candidates will be expected to be able to demonstrate that they have: · A natural affinity and empathy with clients and referrers and the ability to present well to both internal and external customers; · The ability to draft documents to a high standard; · The ability to work effectively as a team player; · Are proactive and motivated; · Excellent organisational skills; · Excellent attention to detail; and · Excellent IT skills.
