Our client, a leading player in the energy sector, is currently seeking an 11KV Design Engineer to join their permanent team in Manchester.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nAnalysing plans, bills of quantities and other project documentation to estimate costs\nUndertaking desktop site surveys and liaising with customers to identify their requirements\nLiaising with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs) to obtain budget quotations and connections offers\nCollaborating with Independent Distribution Network Operators (IDNOs) to obtain quotations for Asset Values\nResearching, sourcing, negotiating and obtaining the best prices and quotes from suppliers and subcontractors\nProducing electrical designs and documentation following relevant regulations and standards, such as ENA Engineering Recommendation G81\nCreating electrical estimates to support the delivery of designs, ensuring customer requirements are met\nPreparing scope of works in a quote template format that clients can easily understand\nAttending design review meetings with clients, DNOs, and IDNOs\nSubmitting connection applications and providing ongoing support to customers throughout the connection process\nGenerating Design Approval packs for submission to DNOs and IDNOs\nEnsuring designs meet customer requirements and are delivered on time and within budget\nConducting technical audits and checks on designs produced by other team members\nMaintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant regulations and standards and ensuring all designs comply\nProviding technical support to other team members as required\nHanding over Approved Designs to construction\nManaging project design changes and cost variations\nSubmitting monthly reports to the Head of ICP on ongoing projects\n\nPrincipal Accountabilities:\n\nDriving project business growth and profitability\nProducing accurate and competitive designs and estimates that convert into orders and revenue, maximising profitability\nEnsuring customer satisfaction through excellent project delivery throughout the contractual chain\nEnsuring compliance with internal processes and driving continuous improvement\nManaging suppliers effectively to maximise delivery and profitability\nEmbedding lessons learnt and best practices in project processes and culture to increase competitiveness and profitability\nMotivating peers to ensure talent retention, personal development and high levels of engagement\nBeing recognised as an active ambassador of the company\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nQualification in Electrical Engineering or a related field\nFull UK driving licence\nKnowledge of relevant regulations and standards, such as ENA Engineering Recommendation G81\nExperience in electrical design, ideally in a utilities or ICP context\nProficiency in using relevant design software, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation\nExcellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders\nStrong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to overcome design challenges\nAbility to manage multiple projects and deliver on time and within budget\n\nBenefits:\n\nWe value our people and offer a comprehensive range of employee benefits, including:\n\nCareer development with professional qualifications and accreditation\nHealth and wellbeing benefits, including:\nEmployee Assistance Programme with mental health support and access to counselling\nAccess to a 24/7 virtual GP\nOccupational Health support \nTax-efficient benefits via Salary Exchange (Salary Sacrifice), including:\nCycle to Work scheme\nGroup Personal Pension Scheme \nEmployee discount scheme with discounts on hundreds of retailers, including supermarkets, mobile phone/broadband providers, gym memberships, and more\nSocial committees with a calendar of regular social events\nLife Assurance cover\nFlexible working arrangements\nLong service awards\nVolunteer opportunities through local community projects and initiatives\nIf you are an experienced 11KV Design Engineer looking for a new opportunity to further develop your career in the energy sector, we would love to hear from you.
