We are looking for a dynamic, caring team player to join our Rheumatology Department with Northumbria Healthcare Foundation Trust. Our service covers Wansbeck, North Tyneside, Morpeth, Blyth, and Hexham area. The predominant working pattern will be Monday to Friday.
Rheumatology is a very interesting and varied specialty. Our staff need to work well as a team but also autonomously when required. We pride ourselves on providing excellent patient care. Good communication skills are essential.
This is a varied role and the successful applicant will support the nursing team by:
1. Taking bloods
2. Triaging patients
3. Handling calls directly from the advice line
Part-time hours: 32.5 hours
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the delivery of a high standard of patient care, supporting the nursing staff and consultants.
2. When fully trained, there will be the opportunity to work more autonomously.
3. Perform phlebotomy.
4. Communicate effectively and sensitively with patients, relatives, and colleagues, referring to senior staff as necessary.
5. Answer the telephone and relay messages accurately.
6. Welcome patients and visitors in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner.
7. Work effectively as a member of the team, offering support to colleagues and requesting assistance as necessary.
8. Record care given accurately, legibly, completely, and concisely.
9. Utilize effective communication skills to communicate with patients calling the advice line.
