The project:
In the energy sector, the UK will need to invest up to £900 billion of capital expenditure to enable a net zero economy by 2050. For our clients in the sector, this means delivering complex projects and programmes delivering low-carbon technologies and infrastructure. And doing so safely, efficiently, and at pace.
Enabling a whole system approach to decarbonising energy is currently constrained by the capacity of, and connection to, the electricity network. This role will work at the forefront of this, contributing to the delivery of construction projects connecting new generation and storage into the grid. Working closely with client and contractor teams, you will build close working relationships to ensure that projects are progressing in accordance with contracted timescales and requirements.

You'll need to have:
1. Competency to produce programmes and sequence plans with minimal supervision.
2. Intermediate software user; Ability to provide schedule outputs in a various format to suit the audience/context.
3. Established experience in built environment and with projects.
4. Understands different procurement routes and types and forms of contract.
5. Basic understanding of Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) stages.
6. Able to respond to all client/stakeholder requests effectively and sensitively.
7. Communicate & present to project team on programme drivers, goals & issues, etc.
8. Listens effectively and probes for new and diverse ideas.
9. Working towards professional qualification (e.g. CIOB, APM, PMI).
10. Other relevant qualifications specific to local requirements.
You'll also have:
1. Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
2. Extensive experience in the successful planning of projects and programmes in the consult sector.
3. Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
4. Strong commercial and financial acumen.
5. Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
6. Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
7. Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
8. Understanding of contract administration.
9. Exposure to the principles or use of different types of contracts.
10. Effective decision-making skills.
11. Ability to challenge constructively.
12. Management skills.
13. Relevant degree in the built environment, business/management studies, etc., or NVQ level 3.
