Part time: 22.5hrs per week with flexible days and hybrid options Dynamic Environment: Work in a fast-paced, collaborative setting within the Education and Skills directorate Professional Development: Access to continuous learning and development in financial management Key Responsibilities: Financial Oversight & Liaison: Act as the key point of contact between schools and financial operations, ensuring smooth coordination and minimal disruption to services Expert Financial Guidance: Provide advice on financial matters and assist with financial reporting and planning across the team Operational Financial Tasks: Manage invoicing, purchase orders, payments, and reporting using financial systems like SAP/Oracle Budget Monitoring & Reporting: Regularly monitor budgets and provide reports to senior management, identifying trends and providing mitigation strategies for financial risks Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain communication with internal stakeholders and external customers, addressing queries and providing financial solutions Team Collaboration & Support: Support the development of the dashboard, ensuring accurate monitoring of costs, income, and targets Process Improvement: Contribute to process improvements within the financial system, learning new tools and adapting to changing needs Travel: Independent travel to meetings and site visits across the county Key Skills, Qualifications and Experience: Analytical Skills: Strong ability to work with complex data, perform accurate calculations, and create financial reports Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communication skills to explain complex financial information to a wide audience Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with financial systems like SAP/Oracle Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks effectively, working independently while meeting deadlines Problem-Solving: Capable of identifying financial risks and proposing solutions Customer Focused: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships Qualifications: A business-related qualification or equivalent (e.g., graduate level or AAT) Experience: Previous experience in finance, budget management, and providing financial advice Desirable Experience: Experience supervising or mentoring colleagues is a plus If you know someone suitable for this role, share the word and through our referral scheme receive up to £250 Click here for further details on our recommendation scheme.
