Job Summary
The Medical Imaging Service Line at Derriford Hospital and its peripheral sites provide diagnostic and treatment pathways for a wide spectrum of emergency and elective patients from across the South West through the use of Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (U/S), Interventional Radiology (IR), Plain Film (PF), Nuclear Medicine and Fluoroscopy.
This role of the Imaging Care Assistant (ICA) Team Leader is to provide direct operational and line management responsibility to the ICA team in the Radiology department at Derriford Hospital and peripheral sites.

12 months secondment with the possibility of becoming permanent.
Main duties of the job
* To act as operational line manager for the ICA team in accordance with Trust policy and procedures.
* Proactively respond to the changing requirements of the service daily, under the direction of the Service Line Management Team and Modality Clinical Leads.
* To rota the ICA team appropriately, encompassing 7 day working with extended hours and 24 hr cover in Emergency areas.
* Ensure all modalities are adequately staffed and that all ICAs take their requisite leave, have appropriate rest periods, whilst ensuring all duties are appropriately covered.
* Produce staff roster ensuring the rota including overtime, sickness and other absences are accurately documented on Healthroster.
* Ensure all ICAs are up to date with mandatory training.
* Ensure all ICAs receive an annual appraisal and are supported in their development.
* To act as lead for the education of the ICA team, responsible for CME events, CPD and PDP of individuals in collaboration with the Imaging Educational Team. Establish a clear career pathway and develop opportunities for role progression where appropriate.
* Lead the ICA cannulation team, responsible for training and competencies. Ensure required staffing levels are available to meet needs of the service.

Knowledge & Experience
* Demonstrable experience as a senior ICA/HCA.
* Demonstrable experience of leadership and team working.
* Demonstrable experience of managing a workforce using Healthroster and NHSP.
* Demonstrable experience of staff development, appraisal and performance management.
* Understanding of ionising and non-ionising radiation safety issues.
Qualifications
* Must hold a Care Certificate Level 2.
* NVQ 3 in Health and Social care or equivalent.
