About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Acute Oncology Team at North Devon District Hospital working across 7 days.
The acute oncology service manages patients who present with complications of their Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT), complications due to their disease process or patients who present with a new diagnosis of cancer as an inpatient.
AOS aim to provide:
* Faster and better care of patients with complications of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (early recognition, better treatment, early discharge)
* Faster and better care of patients with complications of cancer (early recognition, better treatment, rapid referral back to specialist oncology team, specialist palliative care team etc)
* Appropriate investigation of patients who might benefit from treatment for unknown primary cancers (targeted investigations, rapid triage of patients into specialist oncology or palliative care)
* Proactive delivery of preventative care to minimise the risks of the effects of systemic anti-cancer treatment.
Working Pattern: 8am - 6pm 7 days a week - Weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis
