1. Clinical 1.1 Carries out all personal care and activities of daily living for individual patients and groups of patients as required. 1.2 Carries out delegated nursing activities to assist nursing staff, e.g. fluid charts, observations, catheter and stoma care, eye and mouth care and report findings to nursing staff. 1.3 Keeps nursing staff informed of observations and changes in condition relating to patient care. 1.4 Assists with general orderliness and homely atmosphere of the Hospice. 1.5 Develops and maintain effective communication and liaison with patients, their families and carers. 1.6 Be familiar with and follow the agreed Hospice policies and procedures. 1.7 Contributes to maintaining the Hospices agreed philosophy, aims and objectives. 1.8 Works as part of the team to promote an atmosphere in the Hospice conducive to lifelong learning and high standards of care. 1.9 Promotes a safe environment for all patients, carers, visitors and staff in the ward. 1.10 Will work a selection of shifts as agreed upon at interview; this will include some night shifts each month 2. Professional 2.1 Undertakes Healthcare Assistant or Senior Healthcare Assistant duties as required by the Hospice that evidence fitness to practice in the role. 2.2 Positively commits to staff appraisal, performance and clinical supervision to ensure personal professional development. 2.3 Commitment to attend required mandatory training. 2.4 Specifically attends teaching identified to meet Healthcare or Senior Healthcare Assistant development aims and objectives.
