Applications are invited for the post of Locum Consultant in Interventional Cardiology (12 months fixed term) at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will join a team of 8 other Consultants in Bradford.
The Opportunity: To be a key member of the cardiology team, delivering a well-established coronary intervention service which continues to grow and develop in line with cardiology research.
Interventionalists from the Foundation Trust participate in the regional STEMI primary PCI service in the Yorkshire Heart Centre. This post holder may be able to share the on-call commitments for the regional heart attack centre.
Main Duties of the Job
The main duties of the post include contributions to:
1. The inpatient and outpatient work of the cardiology department.
2. The further development and expansion of the interventional service.
3. This appointment has a definite sub-specialty focus.
A weekly rota has been established for the 7-day management and review of patients on CCU and the cardiac ward, each consultant taking the responsibility for patients on CCU and the cardiac ward on a 1:8 rota (with this post) which corresponds to the week on call. All the acute admissions to cardiology are admitted under the consultant of the week. Readmissions within six months and current outpatients will remain under the care of the previous consultant. During their 7-day working week covering CCU and the cardiac ward the consultant of the week will not be expected to undertake any outpatient or elective angiography or pacing sessions, but will contribute to ensuring all cases requiring acute angiography are dealt with promptly through liaison with colleagues.

Job Responsibilities
To provide cardiology services in Bradford. The post holder will be expected to provide a comprehensive clinical service together with consultant colleagues. The Consultant has a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in their charge. The Consultant will be responsible in conjunction with colleagues for planning future developments of these services.

Qualifications
Essential
* MBChB or equivalent.
* CCT in Cardiology or within 6 months of achieving CCT.
* MRCP or equivalent to specialty (UK) or equivalent.
* Evidence of completing a period of approved training in cardiology.
* GMC registration and continue to hold a licence to practise.
Desirable
* Up to date ALS certificate.
Experience
Essential
* Evidence of completing an approved period of training in Cardiology.
* Comprehensive experience in Cardiology.
* Experience in advanced coronary intervention & cath lab service development.
* Proven team working ability.
Desirable
* Recent critical care experience.
* Active involvement in teaching.
