Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Dietitian to join our Dietetic therapy team as part of our forward-thinking adult Cystic Fibrosis team at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of high-quality dietetic care to adults with Cystic Fibrosis who attend the West Midlands Adult Cystic Fibrosis Centre. We are looking for an innovative, specialist dietitian to contribute to the leadership, delivery and development of the CF Dietetic service. The post holder will be required to have responsibility for the provision of specialist level dietetic support to CF patients within the Trust within available resources, to provide training and an advisory service to other dietitians within the Midlands and to act as a key contact for nutrition and adult cystic fibrosis in the region.
Main Duties of the Job
Clinical work is varied covering our 20 bedded inpatient ward, outpatient, virtual clinics and home visits. Working within the multi-disciplinary team of consultants, diabetes specialist nurse, psychologists, clinical nurse specialists, social workers and pharmacists and supported by the UHB Therapies Directorate, you will support the strategic development and provide leadership, operational management and clinical expertise for the team, participating in the delivery of operational performance targets (finance, activity, workforce and quality/safety). You will require experience of nutritional support and diabetes as well as the skills to support the team to adhere to relevant local and national standards of care. It would be beneficial to have a supplementary prescribing qualification, be working towards this or be willing to undertake this training. The service has an active research programme and an enthusiasm for research and innovative approaches to service delivery are essential. Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Good standard of general education including GCSE maths and English grade C and above.
* A levels or equivalent qualification.
* Degree in dietetics or equivalent.
* Current Registration with HCPC.
Experience Essential
* Demonstration of clinical experience enabling post holder to manage a complex caseload of patients.
* Demonstration of significant experience in managing /leading others.
* Experience of training other staff / student dietitians.
* Previous experience of conducting audits and/or research.
* Good clinical knowledge of specialist area of team to manage.
* Understanding of audit, clinical effectiveness and its importance in the provision of a quality service.
* Awareness of local needs, eg; ethnic minority and low income groups.
* Broad dietetic knowledge of relevant specialism.
* Evidence of CPD.
* Awareness and commitment to staff CPD.
* Awareness and commitment to appraisal system.
