There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Building Safety Division, located in Dartford has been established to rectify possible fire safety issues in the historic Bellway Homes portfolio nationally.
We are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Division’s Commercial department. The ideal candidate will have experience in the areas of facades, façade remediation and internal/external fire stopping, however this is not essential. Experience in COINS would also be an advantage but not a necessity as training will be given. Candidates should note that this opportunity is not for a new house build division.
The Role
This role of Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the commercial aspects of each project. This includes managing the costs for each site and ensuring that targets are met by managing and controlling the budgets.
The Senior Quantity Surveyor reports to the Commercial Directoror Commercial Manager.
Principal accountabilities of the role include:
* Manage draft budgets and site start budgets for each site allocated to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.
* Manage all aspects of the project from start to finish with a strong focus on competitive procurement and successful project delivery within budget.
* Produce bi-monthly valuations and complete ‘cost to complete’ exercises for each site the Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for.
* Produce works contractor payments and final accounts, ensuring that the works contractors have signed these off.
* Produce contract works orders, ensuring they are authorised by the authorised representative, together with all necessary documentation to comply with Group Commercial Policy.
* Complete on-site measurements and assess payments to contractors.
* Attend and contribute to various meetings, such as pre-order meetings, bi-monthly valuation meetings and project review meetings with senior management, construction team as well as external contractors and consultants.
* Manage all contract works orders on site, meeting works contractors as and when required.
* Manage Professional Fees Budget.

Experience, Qualifications and Skill
Experience
* Previous experience working within the construction industry at the level of Senior Quantity Surveyor.
* Knowledge of cost control systems and valuation reporting.
Qualifications and Training
* GCSE Grade C/4+ or equivalent in English and Maths.
* CSCS card or equivalent.
* Current full driving licence.

* Strong communication, listening, presentation and negotiation skills.
* Excellent attention to detail.
* Methodical, conscientious, organised and works to deliver high standards.
* Ability to recognise problems and deal with them in a speedy and effective manner.
