Test Manager - Retail Distribution Centre Automation
The location of the role is Castle Donington (hybrid working - occasional travel required).
The duration of the contract is 6 months.
The pay rate is £700 - £800 per day.
The client is a multinational high-street retailer.
Key Accountabilities of the Role
The Miura and Boxed Tech Test Manager will bring existing knowledge of industry best practice for software testing to define a robust coordinated approach to testing the new Castle Donington control systems covering the many phases and systems requiring integration as part of the overall programme of work.
All project team members will work cross-functionally and collaboratively with Technology colleagues, Castle Donington Operations Teams, and third-party technology providers - e.g. Dematic.
Key Activities Include:
1. Defining the overall approach to testing the distribution centre's control systems plus the software elements of the Boxed delivery and integration with the mechanical testing required.
2. Ensuring appropriate joined-up environments are defined and available to execute testing.
3. Managing the creation and control of appropriate data to ensure testing can be successfully executed.
4. Recruitment and management of the wider programme testing team resources.
5. Scheduling and executing testing in line with the overall programme plan.
6. Managing the raising and reporting of defects and testing completion statistics.
7. Providing support to the site operational, UAT, and training teams during ramp-up of each programme phase.
Key Skills and Experience
1. Experience testing complex integrated systems ideally within retail or distribution fulfilment centres.
2. Experience of how to execute software testing of control systems alongside the mechanical testing of physical automation systems.
3. Industry best practice knowledge to apply to the overall testing approach at the distribution centre.
4. A passion for problem solving and fixing existing issues once and for all.
5. An open mind and desire to think of new ways to do things rather than just sticking with the status quo.
6. Good organisation skills and disciplined approach to project activity.
7. Ability to understand operational data, metrics, and performance measures.
8. Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical operations team members.
