Portsmouth South Coast PCNare looking for one full time GP Assistant to work across the Trafalgar MedicalGroup Practice Sites.
As part of the wider team in general practice,General Practice Assistants (GPA) provide a support role, carrying outadministrative tasks.
GPAs are trained to undertake routineadministration and basic clinical duties. They can help to free up GPs time andcontribute to the smooth running of appointments, improving patients experiencein the surgery.
The General Practice Assistant will support thesmooth running of clinics by performing the moreroutine administration and basic clinical taskson behalf of the GP, freeing up their time to focus on the patient. The GPAmust ensure that they work within and recognise their scope of practice,escalating any concerns to the GP.

Reporting directlyto the Practice Manager(s)/PCN Manager you will work with other members of theAdministration Team in the management of our contract and service requirementsacross the PCN, which could include:
1. QOF and recalls
2. oIIF
3. oArdens CQC monitoring
4. oSummarising and Coding
5. oBlood request forms
Assisting Clinical Pharmacists inthe identification of the highest risk patients for drug monitoring andmedication reviews
Contacting patients to arrangeonward care and/or clinical feedback under instruction from the hospital or GPs
Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms ofactions. Signposting some post to otherssuch as clinical pharmacist etc.
Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs codingand adding to notes
Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow upappointments of patients
Supporting GP with basic observations as required
Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of someforms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, ESA113 benefitsagency forms etc
Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies, getting an on-calldoctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP cancontinue with their consultation(s)
Arranging patient appointments, referrals and follow upappointments
