An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic and vastly developing Endoscopy Team.
About Us!
Whiston Hospitals Endoscopy Unit consists of two therapeutic Endoscopy rooms which undertake upper Endoscopy, lower Endoscopy, ERCPs, bronchoscopy, and EBUS. In addition, we have a unit based in St Helens Hospital, which has three diagnostic Endoscopy rooms and a designated treatment room.
The role will involve working closely with the Endoscopy team made up of our Health Care Assistants, Nurse Endoscopists, and Consultant Gastroenterologists.
Previous Endoscopy experience is desired; however, training and professional support will be provided by our team of highly-skilled Nursing Staff.

Main duties of the job
1. To participate effectively in the formulation and implementation of client individualized care.
2. To participate in the undertaking of research, outreach, and clinical audits as directed by the Unit manager to ensure maintaining and improving the delivery of service to the clients attending for procedures.
3. To promote concise and effective communication with the service users/clients and ward nurses and staff within the hospital as per Trust and Unit policies.
4. To ensure that all equipment in the Endoscopy Unit is maintained in safe and functional working order.
5. To contribute efficiently to the setting and implementation of effective patient care and standard of monitoring system in the Endoscopy Unit.

CLINICAL & PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To ensure to maintain an up-to-date Professional Registration N.M.C. License.
2. Adherence to keep the Relevant Code of Practice, Scope of Nursing practice, and Professional body.
3. To maintain and achieve own Personal development plan and learning about JAG and GRS that encompasses the Endoscopy Unit Practice and policies.
ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Effectively maintain accurate patient information and records to ensure confidentiality in line with the Trust Policies.
TEACHING & TRAINING RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To perform and participate in the teaching of students, promoting in-service training for qualified nurses and healthcare assistants.
2. To act effectively as a mentor/preceptor as appropriate.
LINE MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for supervising the training of healthcare assistants and junior staff members as required in the unit.
2. To perform appraisals to ensure staff development is achieved.
3. To coach and act as a mentor/preceptor to junior nurses and healthcare assistants.
4. To monitor efficient staff development/training dashboard to achieve good performance management.
FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To ensure awareness of maintaining the Endoscopy Unit's safe use of equipment and supplies that affects the Standards of Financial Responsibility within the Trust directives/policies.
RESEARCH & AUDIT
1. Perform and participate effectively in maintaining Endoscopy Unit Clinical Audits.
2. Measurement of Patient Comfort.
3. To ensure to validate Staff and Patient Satisfaction.
Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
* Registered General Nurse, with current NMC Registration.
* IV Drug Administration Certificate or Competencies.
Desirable
* Teaching & Assessing Qualification/Training or equivalent.
Other Essential
* Motivated individual, commitment to personal & professional development.
* Flexible and adaptable approach.
Knowledge & Experience Essential
* Knowledge of clinical skills required to undertake the role.
* Knowledge of current professional & clinical issues.
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults procedures.
* Sufficient post-registration experience in medical specialty/specialties.
Desirable
* Sufficient post-registration experience within an acute hospital setting.
* Previous Endoscopy experience.
