The Post And Candidate
As a major division within the NSS, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive.
We are looking for a NMC/HCPC Registered practitioner to join our SNBTS Transfusion Team to promote the safe and appropriate use of blood and blood components through the development of national programmes of education, associated quality improvement and clinical effectiveness initiatives. You will be one of the named Transfusion Practitioners for NHS Golden Jubilee and will work closely with NHS Golden Jubilee staff.
You should be able to work with limited supervision and demonstrate flexibility in delivering the requirements of the post. Excellent communication and presentation skills and the ability to adopt a flexible and proactive approach to problem solving is required to promote and champion this national programme at all levels. Candidates should have considerable experience in a blood transfusion, haematology or related specialty.
The post-holder will be responsible for supporting safe transfusion practice and maintaining good communication channels across NHS Golden Jubilee as well as supporting other areas covered by the SNBTS Transfusion Team west region.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must have current NMC/HCPC registration at the time of applying.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Currently based on site
Monday to Friday, 11.25 hours per week
It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
