About the Role We are seeking a Body & Paint – Quality Project Lead to oversee the quality control of painted panels, ensuring they meet the highest standards throughout the production process. This role will involve managing painted panels across two sites, implementing best practices, minimizing rework costs, and driving process improvements. The successful candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and able to thrive in a fast-paced engineering environment. Key Responsibilities: Painted Panel Management Reduce programme spend on painted panel reworks and minimise paint-related losses. Resolve paint issues promptly to prevent delays in programme timing. Oversee daily management and movement of painted panels through the business. Ensure adequate protection of painted products and challenge poor practices. Drive continuous improvement initiatives for painted part management processes. Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for prep, prime, and paint concerns, leading resolution efforts. Carry out shakedown vehicle preparation, including protective material application and removal. Undertake project-based work as required. Maintain high-quality assurance standards, ensuring best practices in paint protection and quality control. MPA (Manufacturing Process Audit) Support Coordinate and conduct painted part inspections, including regular travel. Perform internal build product audits and prepare MPA reports. Manage painted panel reworks externally if necessary. Handle communication with paint suppliers Rework Management Conduct paint reworks at various stages of the manufacturing process to achieve right-first-time MPA results. Coordinate external repaint or rework processes. Minimise third-party rework costs by enhancing in-house capabilities. Required Skills & Experience: Ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively. High level of professionalism and confidentiality. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in MS-Office applications and MS-SharePoint. Experience working in small, agile teams. Willingness to travel regularly for product audits. Ability to adapt processes based on evolving business needs. Hands-on experience in paint repairs to meet high vehicle quality standards. Own tools and equipment for paint repairs and reworks.
