About the job
An exciting opportunity has risen for an LGV Driver Class 1 to join our ever-expanding team supporting our ambitious growth plans. You will be responsible for transporting plant and materials to our construction sites across the country.
Main responsibilities include:
3. Maintaining a good working relationship with the Plant Transport and Fleet Hire Desk Controller and Plant Operations Manager
4. Maintaining good working relationships with fellow drivers and other Colleagues employed within Churchill Plant Services and Construction teams as well as all Colleagues within the Churchill Group
5. Driving in a safe, professional and courteous manner at all times, presenting the Company out on the public highways in corporate identified vehicles & clothing
6. Making sure all loads are placed on our vehicles in a manner that will not overload the vehicle as a whole “GVW” or its individual axles
7. Maintaining the means of securing all types of load and make sure vehicles have sufficient sets of serviceable load restraining straps/chains to achieve this at all times
8. Being responsible for loading and off loading a variety of plant & materials onto and off of our vehicles using the cranes mounted upon them safely and without damage
9. Ensuring vehicles are kept clean inside and out at all times
10. Ensuring vehicles are kept safe and in good working order, reporting any defects promptly
11. Being responsible for keeping up to date with the changes in the law relating to driving
12. Being available for other duties when driving is not required, this may include a variety of tasks including yard tidying ,canteen & office cleaning minor maintenance, servicing, cleaning, painting of company plant equipment buildings or property
Generally the hours of work will be 7am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7am – 4pm on Fridays.
While driving on Tachograph you are to adhere to the UK & EEC Drivers Hours regulations and rest periods.
Overtime will be a necessity at busy times and will be paid at time and a half on weekdays and Saturdays and double time on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be:
13. Experienced & skilled in driving drawbar trailer combination vehicles
14. Experienced & skilled in the safe use of lorry mounted cranes by the chain on hook method
15. Experienced & skilled in loading & off loading and stacking/de-stacking of our site welfare accommodation units
16. Able to understand the use of Tachographs and be aware of the rules regarding Drivers’ hours and the EEC working time directive
17. You able to demonstrate good knowledge of the UK roadways and be able to plan routes safely having regard for roads with width & weight restrictions, low bridges, unmanned railway crossings
18. Certified in the use of Telehandlers / Fork Lifts & MEWP’s
19. Responsible for their own Health and Safety as well as other people
