Job Description:
HR Centres of Excellence, based in the Centre for Human Genetics, Old Road Campus, Headington, Oxford, OX3 7BN. We currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our dedicated, professional and friendly HR team at the Nuffield Department of Medicine on a 12-month maternity cover contract. Working as part of the HR Centres of Excellence, this is a unique opportunity to further develop the employee relations offering within a growing and world-leading clinical research department.
As Employee Relations Manager, you will partner with key academic and professional services staff across the department and wider university to provide high-quality HR leadership and direction in relation to a wide range of matters. Reporting to the HR Director, you will be responsible for developing and implementing a culture of continuous improvement across the department, including absence management, performance management, family leave, and disciplinary and grievance processes. You will manage two experienced Employee Relations Partners, supporting people-related activity across the department.
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience in employee relations and providing proactive, persuasive, and effective advice on a full range of issues, enabling managers and staff to achieve their objectives. With a proven ability to identify and manage risk in complex cases requiring robust and creative solutions, you will also have first-hand experience of providing HR support for complex organisational change. Excellent organisation, prioritisation, and influencing skills, along with the ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, are essential.
