To provide visible leadership, support and direction to the staff and service users within the Clinical Management Group. Be responsible for continuous management of Inpatient and intrapartum services. Including the Birth Centre, Maternity admissions unit and maternity wards. Work to deliver current professional, national, Trust and CMG developments. Act as an expert resource and lead on developments within the acute unit. Promoting Midwifery led care, encouraging normality and acting on deficits in care To be responsible for promoting good professional practice within the maternity service and provide advice and expertise to fellow professionals relating to inpatient and delivery suite issues Assess, evaluate and monitor evidence based guidance to ensure the women in Leicester maternity service receive the most up to date, safe quality care. To be responsible for agreeing, monitoring and improving standards of clinical and non-clinical care, ensuring that the highest standards are continually met. To assist in the development of care pathways and new ways of working within the service in order to effectively use resources and meet the targets set. To be responsible for the co-ordination / completion of specific pieces of work / projects that are required to meet the local and national agenda To act as a role model for all staff including participating in clinical work to maintain competence and credibility. Participate in the CMG Matron of the Day arrangements as Matron for managerial/professional issues across the CMG.
