Job title: Senior Development Underwriter – PI
Salary: £80,000 + Bonus + Benefits

Purpose of role:
Our client is seeking a candidate who has a deep understanding of the Professional Indemnity market. They are looking for someone energetic and ambitious, with broad expertise and a willingness to share knowledge to support our underwriting team. Your primary role will involve spearheading the profitable expansion of our Professional Indemnity business in the Northern Region, aligning with our ambitious growth objectives. You’ll become part of a well-established, high-achieving team that focuses on underwriting larger and more intricate Professional Indemnity cases. This role can be based out of/near Manchester, York or Glasgow.
Key responsibilities:
1. Establishing yourself as a respected underwriter in the region, building strong relationships with brokers.
2. Championing PI in the Northern Region, including providing necessary training to local underwriters and brokers.
3. Coaching less experienced underwriters to enhance their product knowledge and sales skills.
4. Consistently underwriting larger, complex cases profitably.
5. Leading the development and execution of the local underwriting strategy alongside Branch and Regional Underwriting Managers.
6. Taking the lead on underwriting complex risks in your specialised area.
7. Conducting underwriting and sales visits to larger clients and prospects.
8. Ensuring the region meets retention rate targets by personally handling some cases.
9. Increasing submission and conversion rates through targeted client prospecting.
10. Keeping abreast of market shifts and new product launches to stay competitive.
11. A strong grasp of Professional Indemnity and the ability to underwrite larger, more intricate risks effectively.
12. Comprehensive understanding of the insurance market, industry dynamics, competitors, brokers, and factors influencing market conditions, including soft/hard markets.
13. Preferably ACII qualified or possessing relevant experience that exempts from ACII through FCA guidelines.
14. Outstanding skills in relationship management and sales.
15. Takes the lead on underwriting and sales visits to major clients and prospects.
16. Serves as the primary referral point for larger, more complex cases.
17. Provides coaching and mentorship to less experienced underwriters, focusing on enhancing their underwriting and sales abilities.
