We provide care for tertiary level neonatal care for premature babies and their families at Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital, we are the north hub in the East Midlands for neonatal intensive care. We are proud to offer both medical and surgical intensive care for extremely premature and very sick infants, as well as having an integrated outreach team in place to support babies and families once they return home.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our outstanding and expanding team at Nottingham Children's Hospital as a Matron for Neonatal Services. This opportunity is for a permanent position as one of 2 Matrons leading two Level 3 units, which in time will come together as a single site through our maternity and neonatal redesign project and Tomorrow’s NUH. Supported by the Nottingham Children's Hospital Lead Nurse, the post holder will play a pivotal role in the quality agenda, delivery of care and the continuing development of nursing within the teams, continuing to embed our Children's Hospital Nursing Strategy in all that we do.
As a Matron you will have leadership experience, well developed organisational skills, provide a visible presence with daily clinical and professional leadership and support for nursing.

Main Responsibilities

1. Provide responsive, compassionate, inclusive leadership and management to promote the highest standards of clinical care, patient safety and experience.
2. Ensure compliance with prevention and control of infections, monitoring cleaning of the environment.
3. Workforce management, finance and budgeting.
4. Ensuring the highest quality education and development of nursing staff within the neonatal units.
5. To act as a resource, providing advice on professional nursing issues in relation to clinical interventions, policies and protocols, service delivery and service development.
6. To ensure that appropriate resources are in place to support the delivery of high quality services within areas of responsibility.

Training & Qualifications
* First degree or equivalent in health related subject
* ENB 998 or equivalent teaching course
* Neonatal qualified in speciality course
Experience
* Experience of leading and delivering programmes of change within an acute NHS setting.
* Post registration experience including management and leadership experience
* Knowledge of budgets/financial control
* Leadership experience of working within a level 3 neonatal unit
Communication/Relationship Skills
* Excellent communication skills, written and oral

* Ability to influence and motivate staff to deliver challenging targets
