Community Children’s Nurse (Special Schools)

The post holder will provide nursing care to children and young people who have additional/complex needs within a Special School or Observation Unit within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board and will work within clearly defined occupational policies, codes of practice and professional guidelines.
This post is fixed term/secondment for 12 months due to maternity cover. If you are interested in applying for the secondment position, you must obtain permission from your current line manager prior to applying for this post.
Main duties of the job
Do you have a passion for working with children with additional and complex health needs and are looking to develop your knowledge and skills in this field? If so, we currently have a band 5 vacancy to work in one of our Special Schools in Cwm Taf.
The postholder will work as part of the Childrens Community Nursing Team, within clearly defined occupational policies, codes of practice, and professional guidelines. The post is based in Ysgol Ty Coch and is term time only.
The post holder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of training packages within the school and provide ongoing support, training, and supervision for a team of health care support workers and learning support assistants. They will also support the Health and MDT clinics held within the school environment.
We are looking for someone who is able to work autonomously, is motivated, reliable, and innovative but also enjoys working as part of a team. Working collaboratively with other agencies is essential, so excellent communication skills are required.
Comprehensive induction and ongoing training will be provided.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications/Knowledge
* Good underpinning theoretical and practical knowledge in Child Health and Wellbeing
* Knowledge of the 1-3 year plan for Children and Young People (IMTP)
Experience
* Post registration experience in Child Health and Wellbeing
* Experience of working with children with additional/complex needs
* Experience of working in community or school setting
