We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services that meet our organisational needs. This role requires strong negotiation skills, an understanding of supply chain logistics, and proficiency in various procurement systems. The Buyer will play a crucial role in ensuring that our inventory levels are maintained efficiently while optimising costs.
Duties
1. Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their offerings.
2. Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to secure the best possible prices and delivery schedules.
3. Manage the procurement process from requisition through to purchase order completion.
4. Collaborate with internal departments to understand their purchasing needs and ensure timely delivery of goods.
5. Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data within procurement systems such as SAP ERP, Oracle EBS, or AS400.
6. Monitor inventory levels and forecast future purchasing needs based on sales trends and business requirements.
7. Develop strong relationships with suppliers to enhance collaboration and ensure quality standards are met.
8. Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and new products that may benefit the organisation.
Qualifications
1. Proven experience in a buying or procurement role, preferably within a supply chain environment.
2. Strong negotiation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders effectively.
3. Familiarity with procurement systems such as SAP ERP, Oracle EBS, or Edwards is advantageous.
4. Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail to assess supplier performance and pricing strategies.
5. Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to achieve individual targets.
6. Knowledge of logistics processes and supply chain management principles is essential.
7. Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications related to procurement tasks.
