We are recruiting a Sensory Impairment Support Worker to join our Gloucester team. The role will enable people with a sensory impairment to live independently in their community by providing support that promotes positive outcomes. The right candidate will be able to work flexibly across our core business hours of Monday – Friday 09:00 am – 05:00 pm. There may be some requirements to work some evenings and weekends. Duties and Responsibilities To follow an individual support plan with each service user and assist the service user to meet the agreed objectives To offer support in a flexible and responsive manner To be aware of and give advice regarding appropriate environmental aids, to enhance quality of life To assist with and give advice on benefits, budgeting and help with forms such as PIP, UC, etc. To liaise with agencies such as Social Services, Housing Authorities, Job Centre, Training and Careers, DWP, and other statutory and voluntary sector agencies to ensure that service users receive the correct benefits and support services they need. To support service users to successfully maintain their tenancies, liaising with landlords where necessary To assist tenants to access other services they may need and act as an advocate for service users when appropriate To assist service users to engage with statutory or other support services where appropriate. To work in close liaison with other agencies to ensure that the scheme successfully integrates with existing service provision To provide monitoring information required by the Commissioners To maintain effective records of the work including case notes To report to your supervisor and partner agencies on a regular basis, as agreed with them To undertake training and attend meetings, as required To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested by your named Support Manager, commensurate with the responsibilities of the post To be involved in the monitoring and review of services being provided, taking full account of service users’ views, and suggest ways in which services may be improved and extended.
