We are offering an exciting opportunity for a risk professional to play an integral role within the Corporate Governance Team. We are looking for a passionate and highly skilled individual, with significant experience of risk management in a healthcare setting. Working alongside the Assistant Director of Corporate Governance & Risk, the Risk Manager will take a lead role in ensuring that there is a comprehensive, effective and regularly maintained risk management function in place across the organisation, providing specialist expert advice, support and leadership for risk management, risk assessment and risk based training. WAST is a national service and the Corporate Governance Team are representative of this, working in a hybrid manner in North, South and Mid Wales, with bases in St Asaph, Cwmbran and Swansea. As a result, we are flexible in the ways we work and the location of the successful candidate. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply. The post holder will support and work collaboratively with operational teams and corporate directorates providing organisational leadership for risk management programmes and assurance across the Trust, promoting a positive culture of compliance and risk awareness. Supporting colleagues to implement and maintain systems for risk management and take overall responsibility for preparations of risk assessments. Drive delivery of the assurance and risk agenda to achieve organisational objectives, delivery of safe and effective services, and compliance with legislation and standards. Work closely with the Assistant Director of Corporate Governance & Risk to jointly lead on the development/implementation of a comprehensive risk management training programme, enabling delivery of the risk management agenda and reporting, and to ensure appropriate levels of competence around risk management exists and is embedded across all areas. Develop and maintain strong, influential relationships with internal and external stakeholders to provide robust mechanisms of assurance that risk management is embedded and evidenced in WAST becoming a trusted strategic partner in NHS Wales and system influencer in the risk management arena. Be a positive role model and have a broad knowledge and technical understanding of risk management and assurance, have excellent communication and organisation skills and the ability to work on their own initiative as well as part of a team.
