Location: Halifax and Huddersfield
Area: Children’s Homes.
Pay Rate: Basic Salary: £14-£18 depending on experience. Night enhancement (time and third after 10pm) and 50% Weekend enhancement rate (time and a half).
Hours: Hours of work are flexible and determined by the needs of the service and are on a shift basis which includes early mornings, late-night shifts, weekends, and bank holidays. Potential sleep overnight shifts. You will be able to pick the shifts yourself, making this a perfect opportunity if you are looking for flexibility.
Responsibilities:
1. Under the general direction of the Registered Manager, Senior Staff, and Care Officers, work as a team to deliver a high standard of care that meets the individual needs of the children and young people both socially and emotionally.
2. Make and maintain positive relationships with the children and young people, and safely meet their physical care and management needs.
3. Offer additional and supplementary cover to the existing staff teams within children’s homes on an “as and when” basis.
4. Provide a safe and stimulating environment to help children/young people develop and mature.
5. Introduce children to a range of different experiences and encourage choice.
6. Provide primary care such as health care appointments and personal care where appropriate to age and ability.
7. Plan, organise, and positively engage with children daily, including special celebrations, festivals, and outings.
8. Participate in holidays and physical activities with the young people.
9. Manage behaviour in an assertive, restorative, and positive manner, and as a last resort, safely restrain/hold a child/young person following appropriate training.
10. Support education needs and help them realise their potential, encouraging aspirations.
11. Seek to improve and work with the child/young person’s family members or important persons to provide support and practical assistance.
12. Carry out domestic duties to ensure that the home is maintained to a high standard (e.g., redecoration, some cleaning, and laundry).
13. Communicate in a coherent manner, both written and oral, including using electronic recording systems, email, and other basic e-literacy tools.
14. Produce records daily to meet statutory and policy requirements.
15. Contribute to the home’s development plans and the constant improvement of service delivery to children.
16. Participate in training and development activities as necessary to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills.
