Our dynamic team prides itself on professionalism, innovation, and continuous improvement, and we are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the North West.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Quantity Surveyor (QS) or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS) ready to progress into a QS role. The ideal candidate will have some civil engineering experience, preferably in residential projects, and a strong willingness to learn and develop their skills in quantity surveying.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for residential construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial goals.
2. Conduct site visits as required to monitor progress, assess site conditions, and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
3. Support contract management processes, including preparing and negotiating tender documents, contracts, and variations.
4. Prepare and submit regular financial reports reflecting project status, forecasting, and any necessary financial adjustments.
5. Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout project lifecycles.
6. Actively seek opportunities to learn from experienced team members and participate in professional development activities.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
1. A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not essential for AQS candidates with strong experience.
2. For QS Role: Minimum of 2 years of experience in quantity surveying, ideally within the residential or civil sectors.
3. For AQS Role: Some experience in a similar role or a strong desire to learn, with experience in civil engineering projects.
4. Proficient in industry-standard software (e.g., Excel, CostX, or equivalent QS tools) and familiar with relevant regulations and standards.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members both verbally and in writing.
6. High level of accuracy in work and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to mitigate risks and resolve issues proactively.
Working Conditions:
This is an office-based role located in the North West, with occasional site visits required. Office hours are 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 4:00 PM finish on Fridays. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are essential in this role.
