Hillmorton High School is a diverse urban coeducational school situated in the South-West of Christchurch. The school is a fast-growing Y7–13 school with dedicated middle and senior schools. We have an estimated roll of around 1400 next year and building works commencing to take the roll to 1565 in the next few years. We provide students with a caring and supportive environment to help them achieve academic excellence, leadership skills, and a love of learning.
Commencing 27 January 2025, we require a teacher to join our team, working in Upland, our Learning Support Unit for students who have been verified on the Ongoing Resource Scheme as high or very high needs.
The curriculum is based on individual education plans (I.E.Ps) with a life skills-based focus. The successful candidate will work with students transitioning to post-school activities, which includes community participation.
A qualification in teaching students with special needs is highly desirable.
A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to teach using culturally responsive and relational pedagogy is essential.
The successful applicant must be a NZ registered teacher and be willing to commit to our co-curricular programme.
