The opportunity:
At Leonardo, we have a fantastic new opportunity for a Fast Jet Technical Support Engineer to join our team within the Customer Support and Service Solutions (CS3) line of business. The CS3 line of business operates across the UK, providing innovative and invaluable support solutions to our customers. We help to ensure the availability of front-line capability wherever and whenever required.
The team you will be joining is part of a multi-discipline engineering team involved in the in-service support requirements of our Radar products in use worldwide, across multiple aircraft platforms. You will have the opportunity to ensure our customers' technical support needs of our radar products are fulfilled.
This position is primarily an office-based role located at our Edinburgh site with opportunities for remote working as required.
What you'll do as a Fast Jet Technical Support Engineer:
1. Provide technical support to the Captor-M Radar, Captor-E Radar, Tornado Nose Radar, and Raven Radar Field Service Engineering community, in line with contractual requirements.
2. Interact with a range of technical & non-technical project stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
3. When required, provide off-site support to UK & Overseas Customer sites and Airforce Main Operating Bases.
4. Conduct complex investigations identified during the support phase of the product.
5. Raise and issue technical reports to support Engineering activities.
6. Take ownership of Fast Jet Technical support tasks and provide metrics to project stakeholders.
7. Key stakeholder in providing Radar System training to the Field Service Engineering community, both within the UK and Overseas.
8. Actively support knowledge sharing and exploitation of best practice.
9. This is a hands-on role where the Engineer is expected to undertake active participation in the resolution of complex problems, providing timely and accurate feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
What we need from you:
You really must have:
1. Knowledge of airborne Radar RF electronic technology, performance, and operational concepts.
2. Knowledge and understanding of Radar test equipment.
3. Knowledge and understanding of Bus Analysers, Spectrum Analysers, RF Power Meters, and STANAG 3838/3910 protocols.
4. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
5. An excellent and confident communicator and presenter, with the ability to engage with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to:
1. Make informed decisions based on obtaining information from the relevant technical sources.
2. Effectively manage own time, potentially across multiple activities.
3. Manage workload in pressurised environments, across multiple tasks, ensuring a quality output to meet customer demands.
4. Multi-task and work across several activities at once.
It would be desirable if you had:
1. Experience of both main and test equipment design and support.
2. Previous Radar system experience.
3. Experience of working with multi-company collaborations or within a partnered working environment.
4. A working understanding of all levels of product support.
We are particularly interested in speaking to you if you have experience in the following areas:
1. Experience in front line customer support.
2. Previous Fast Jet experience which may include Typhoon or Tornado aircraft.
