Stats Perform are seeking a Junior Assistant Sports Journalist (Video/Voiceover) to join our Australian video service team. You will be at the forefront of content creation in a fast-paced sports environment. Your role will see you covering the biggest teams, players and stories across Australian & global sports and creating video highlight packages in accordance with local Fair Dealing laws.
Responsibilities:
1. Scripting, editing, voicing and delivering content to a broadcast standard.
2. Content creation as part of a team delivering page-ready video for digital clients across Australia.
3. Editing and voicing digital highlights packages on Australian and international sports.
4. Supporting with the booking of appropriate feeds for highlight captures.
5. Using Opta’s wealth of extensive sports data to enhance storytelling.
6. Liaise with our newsdesk, international and support teams to ensure a smooth workflow of content.
Required Qualifications:
7. First-rate knowledge of a range of sports, including European and global soccer, AFL, NRL, tennis and cricket.
8. A flair for producing engaging video suitable for digital, social and broadcast consumers.
9. Experience of key editing software (especially Adobe Premiere Pro) to a broadcast standard.
10. Experience of providing broadcast quality voiceover for sports highlights packages.
11. A keen news sense and objective judgement of editorial decisions.
12. Comfortable reacting to breaking news and suitably prioritising a busy news agenda.
13. The self-motivation to work on your own as well as within a team.
14. A flexible approach to shifts at evenings and weekends in accordance with the global sporting calendar, particularly around the European soccer fixture list.
15. An ability to work with data and tell stories using stats and insights.
16. The ability to work well to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
17. Excellent command of written and spoken English.
18. Broadcast journalism qualification or relevant experience.
19. An ability to film on broadcast-standard cameras as part of our newsgathering operation.
