We are seeking an experienced and organised Clerical Officer Supervisor to join our dedicated Catering Department within the NHS. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of administrative processes that support our catering services, which provide high-quality meals to patients, staff, and visitors.
As a Clerical Supervisor, you will lead a small team of administrative staff and coordinate key clerical activities, including scheduling, data management, and communications, to ensure the department runs efficiently.

Main duties of the job
1. Supervise and support clerical staff within the catering department.
2. Oversee administrative processes such as meal planning records, dietary requirement documentation, and ordering supplies.
3. Monitor and maintain accurate records, ensuring compliance with NHS policies and procedures.
4. Handle scheduling and rota management for catering team members.
5. Provide general administrative support to the Catering Manager and team.
6. Act as the first point of contact for internal and external inquiries, resolving issues or escalating as necessary.
7. Conduct regular performance reviews and training for clerical staff.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in administration, excellent organisational skills, and experience in a supervisory role. You will be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of staff and have a keen eye for detail to maintain high standards.
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Previous experience in an administrative or clerical role, ideally within a healthcare or catering environment.
2. Proven ability to manage and supervise a team.
3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other administrative software.
5. Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
6. Knowledge of NHS policies and procedures is desirable.

Education & Training
* Educated to GCSE Level or equivalent. English at C or above – or equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience.
* Ability to communicate in English.
* Computer literacy skills to RSA2, NVQ 2 or equivalent.
Experience and Knowledge Required
* Previous Office/Administrative experience (1 year minimum).
* Experience of dealing with confidential information.
* Previous Office/Administrative experience in an NHS environment.
Skills and Attributes
* Ability to organise and prioritise own workload and take responsibility for delivering results within agreed timescales with changing priorities, pressures and with frequent interruptions.
