Main purpose of job: To assist in the preparation of all food and beverages as and when required, as directed by the Catering Supervisor, whilst ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. The job involves serving pupils and teachers their school dinner at lunchtime, some simple food preparation eg making sandwiches / salad (but not cooking ), washing up, cleaning the kitchen and helping to move dining furniture and get dining hall set up before service. Uniform will be provided. No re-imbursement for travel expenses but we will keep the employee within the general vicinity of where they live. Key responsibilities: Influence and encourage customers in a positive way, in order to maximise meal uptake and healthy eating. Ensure that decisions are based on existing Health and Safety, Food Hygiene legislation. Ensure good levels of customer care and to help build a positive working relationship with the school’s Headteacher and other school staff. Assist the Catering Supervisor to establish customer requirements. Report any faults or defects in relation to premises/plant, in order to maintain safety standards. Key tasks: Assisting in the preparation and serving of meals to pupils in schools Handle cash, when required Carry out general cleaning duties in all relevant catering areas including washing up of light equipment Movement of dining furniture / setting up and clearing away of the dining hall before and after lunch service.
