We are seeking applications for Healthcare Support Workers to join our Day Surgery Theatre at Singleton Hospital.
Successful candidates will be appointed to either of the following roles depending on experience and qualifications:
Band 2
1. Minimum of Qualification Credit Framework - QCF Level 2 (formerly NVQ Level 2) in Health or willingness to complete QCF qualification within agreed timeframe.
2. Experience of working/caring in a health or social care environment.
Band 3
1. Minimum of Qualification Credit Framework – QCF Level 3 (formerly NVQ Level 3) in Perioperative Support / Agored Cymru Level 3 Diploma in Perioperative Support or equivalent qualification.
2. Significant experience of working as a Healthcare Assistant in an operating theatre environment.
3. Experience of performing circulating role in different specialties.
4. Experience of providing training to new Healthcare Assistants.
If you have previous experience working within a healthcare setting and/or healthcare qualifications QCF level 2 or QCF level 3 in peri-operative care, we are very keen to hear from you.
Both Band 2 and Band 3 will assist the Registered Practitioner/Assistant Practitioner in the assessment, ongoing assessment, planning, management, and evaluation of care.
Responsibilities include:
1. Checking in patients to the theatres department.
2. Assisting and waiting with the patient in the anaesthetic room.
3. Assisting theatre practitioners in the setting up of theatres.
The Healthcare Assistant (Level 2/3) will work at all times under the delegation of a registered practitioner or assistant practitioner in the delivery of person-centred care.
The Band 3 Senior Healthcare Assistant (Level 3) has a greater degree of autonomy than the Band 2 Healthcare Assistant and undertakes a broader range of health and care in accordance with policy and procedures.
The post holder will work on their own initiative, undertaking delegated tasks with appropriate supervision in place from a registered practitioner/assistant practitioner.
Within the Theatre practice setting, the Healthcare Assistant plays an essential role in the smooth running of Theatres and providing support for the delivery of high standard care.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
