Your Role
and What You'll Be Doing
The role of the Residential Property Assistant is to provide conveyancing admin support to fee earner colleagues (southern based) to allow them to provide quality legal advice and an exceptional conveyancing and leasehold enfranchisement service to our clients.
You will assist fee-earners with managing their caseloads of purchase, sale, remortgage, leasehold enfranchisement and other associated matters for both freehold and leasehold properties.
1. Dealing with client handling and case management effectively and efficiently.
2. Supporting conveyancing tasks for fee earners including, but not limited to:
3. Complete file openings and conduct conflict checks
4. Preparing sales packs; emailing managing agents and dealing with enquiries
5. Preparing initial protocol forms
6. Drafting contract papers
7. Completing Post completion documents
8. Preparing property search reports
9. Supporting leasehold extension matters including:
10. Drafting documents including leases, statutory notices and lenders consent
11. Preparing letters to clients, banks, other solicitors etc.
12. Carry our research
13. Update spreadsheets and keep track of statutory dates
14. Liaise closely with clients to keep them up to date on the progress of their work
15. Ensuring all appropriate documentation is recorded and updated as required.
16. Reprographics tasks including photocopying, scanning, binding and printing
17. Manage fee earner diaries and keeping them up to date with appointments, meetings and conference calls.
18. Support client meetings and events; arranging bookings, catering, issuing invites and distributing papers.
About You
19. You will have strong IT skills and have a high proficiency in all Microsoft Office packages.
20. Experience of working with case management systems and handling a caseload.
21. Have experience working in an administrative/secretarial capacity, working with strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
22. Experience providing excellent customer and client service.
23. Have experience with Conveyancing/Residential Property processes.
24. Be familiar with HMLR, SDLT and conveyancing searches and documentation.
25. Experience with leasehold enfranchisement, although this is not essential.
