Job summary Issues with alcohol and other substances often develop in response to past and present adversity, which can impact mental health including experiencing depression and anxiety and other mental health issues. However, people with substance misuse issues often experience difficulties in accessing mental health support, with a perspective that the person must cease substance use prior to accessing therapeutic interventions. Horizon, uses a Trauma Informed approach, in supporting those who use our services, including service users and staff. The Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, will play an active role in utilising the Trauma Informed principles to enhance recovery and provide a psychologically informed environment. The Cognitive Behavioural Therapist role is a critical support to the delivery of evidence- based treatment for clients with alcohol issues and to support recovery.
