The newly created post of Talent Development Advisor will support the Leadership and Talent Academy Lead with the implementation and maintenance of an inclusive, talent-led culture by managing a range of development initiatives such as training, coaching, development events, and succession planning.
The Talent Development Advisor will join at an exciting time for this team and will work independently, with the Leadership and Talent Academy Lead, and alongside leaders of all levels in the Trust to deliver projects and initiatives that retain and grow the Trust’s key talent, achieving the Trust’s commitment to grow their own talent as part of the Great Together strategy and NHS People Promise.
Main duties of the job
1. Communicate and coordinate talent and leadership events and initiatives, including on-the-day presence.
2. Engage staff on initiatives, motivate them to fulfill their talent development responsibilities, and effectively challenge behavior not aligned with the Trust values or inclusive talent development principles.
3. Analyze talent data to monitor initiatives and employee progression, draw conclusions, identify trends, and make recommendations to Senior Leaders.
4. Act as a first point of contact and provide advice on all aspects of talent management, career development, and succession planning within the Trust.
5. Lead our Career Ambassadors and Coaching networks.
6. Support employees undertaking Career Experiences (internal work experience), tracking and reporting on the success of the initiative and any barriers to access.
7. Develop and facilitate presentations, training, resources, and team sessions, and host mock interviews for internal candidates.
8. Oversee talent and development inboxes.
9. Support the succession planning and talent mapping cycle.
10. Maintain applications, databases, and report regularly on talent data for senior leaders and divisions.
11. Support the running of internal and regional/national NHS leadership training programmes.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Educated to GCSE level, minimum 5 including maths and English (or equivalent).
* Educated at A-Level or equivalent level.
* CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Organisational Learning and Development or teaching qualification or equivalent trainer experience.
* Excellent Microsoft Office and keyboard skills.
* Competent and experienced in using a range of technology, software, and apps.
* Associate member of CIPD or equivalent professional membership.
* Certified facilitator in psychometric profiling tools (e.g., MBTI, DISC, Insights).
* Qualification in coaching, with accreditation by EMCC or ICF.
Experience
* Experience of working independently to enable the development of a consultancy-type approach and manage own workload.
* Experience of engaging and facilitating large groups of employees.
* Experience of talent development, succession planning, and its importance to staff retention and business continuity.
* Demonstrable experience in managing a programme of activities, annual processes, or project management.
* An understanding of the importance of diversity, inclusion, and fostering talent within organisations with an interest in supporting employee growth.
* Good working knowledge of evaluation techniques.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and deliver to agreed timescales.
* Able to manipulate and review large quantities of data to identify and present on trends.
* Knowledge of tools, techniques, and approaches to support career development and talent management.
