This role is a full time position for our NHS client located in Portland, Dorset. What will your responsibilities be? As a Consultant in Forensic Psychiatry, your responsibilities include conducting detailed psychiatric evaluations of individuals in the criminal justice system, assessing their mental health and fitness to stand trial. You will evaluate the risk of violence or reoffending, providing thorough reports to inform legal decisions. Creating personalised treatment plans is essential, as is collaborating with professionals like psychologists, social workers, and legal teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. You will also provide expert witness testimony in court, explaining complex mental health issues clearly. Engaging in research to advance the field, mentoring junior psychiatrists, and helping shape policies for forensic psychiatric care are crucial parts of the role. Additionally, you will respond promptly to crises to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and the public. Committing to ongoing learning will keep you updated on the latest research and best practices, allowing you to effectively support individuals while contributing to societal safety. Qualifications and Experiences: You must have a full GMC licence to practice Relevant previous experience working in this type of position Section 12/RC approval is essential Approved clinician status is desired but not essential How to apply?
