THE OPPORTUNITY:
As a system engineer you will be working with an SLA Defence weapon system. This is used for system configuration, maintenance, recovery and analysis of log files, and in some cases drives operator training for the weapon system and provides hardware for the operator console. This would provide services to several other subsystems, in particular with the Command and Control that provides the operator with situational awareness, decision support and engagement planning and execution functionality.
THE ROLE:
This department is accountable as the design authority for the product and is responsible for the Systems Engineering activities associated with the specification, design, certification and in-service support of the product. With products in all phases of the lifecycle. C&C has close working relationship with the higher-level weapon system design team concerned with customer requirements and the software department responsible for the detailed design and testing of the product applications. In addition, the product team works closely with several other subsystems teams for which the Product provides configuration, logging and analysis functions.
This is working on a product line comprising hardware, software platform, security solutions and application software and supports a number of maritime and land domestic and export programmes. Current activities are focussed in 3 main areas:
1. Certification of Products for delivery to customer programmes
2. Further consolidation towards a common hardware and software solution, including redesign on the Data Analysis application
3. Surveillance and resolution of obsolescence
Looking for flexible support to complete defined tasks allocated by the Head of the Product Line from the following scope:
System Analysis and Requirement Derivation
Updates to Software Requirement Specification (SRS) and Hardware Requirements Specification (HRS).
Production of traceability linkages to higher-level system requirements.
Definition of Success Criteria and production of Test Scenarios for the SRS which, when executed, will provide evidence to support equipment qualification.
System Design
Specification of features needed for new customer product variants.
Improving MLT architecture and design to increase ease of configuration and reduce proving effort.
System test, Integration and Qualification
Execution of tests, recording the results and raising non-conformances, queries, and deficiency reports as required.
Production of the design certification documentation to support delivery of the products into service.
Review of Technical Publications to ensure that they are consistent with any design changes.
