JOB TITLE: Security Officer
LOCATION: The Howard Centre
PAY RATE: £13.00 per hour
SHIFT PATTERN: 4 on 4 off, 42 hours per week
ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
This important role is the public face of the Security Team. A can-do and professional attitude is essential in this highly influential role. You also need to ensure exemplary standards of Security and Customer Service are always provided to the client and visitors to the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Readily interact with all visitors/tenants within the shopping centre, delivering first class customer focused service.
2. Carry out regular patrols of the shopping centre as detailed in the site assignment instructions, being always proactive.
3. Continuously look for opportunities to be of assistance to visitors at the shopping centre, proactively helping wherever opportunities arise.
4. Safeguard all the sites to create a safe and non-threatening environment for all visitors/tenants.
5. Ensure all incidents are managed in accordance with site policies and procedures.
6. Liaise with the site control room, proactively reacting to incidents and ensuring colleagues are fully briefed and always supported.
7. Report any unsecure areas of the site to the Control Room immediately and take action to resolve.
8. Record/log all non-conformances and emergencies with the appropriate control room operatives.
9. Deal efficiently and effectively with all emergencies, ensuring the Centre team is always kept fully informed.
10. Maintain an intelligent understanding of human behavior, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals, logging, and reporting incidents in line with site/company policies.
11. Maintain vigilance and manage unauthorized access by banned individuals.
12. Ensure radio procedures are always adhered to.
13. Ensure all events/incidents are recorded in the Security Officer notebook correctly and that notebook policies are always adhered to.
14. Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to meet the needs of the business.
15. Be available to cover at least one additional shift per month if requested to cover absence/annual leave.
16. Liaise closely with the Environmental Services team to deliver one service and highlight opportunities in working as one team.
