As a Health Care Support Worker/Phlebotomist,you will provide essential support to our clinical team, assisting in thedelivery of patient care and helping to ensure the smooth running of thepractice. This role will involve direct patient care, administrative duties,and the opportunity to develop your skills in a dynamic, patient-focusedenvironment.
In this role, you will directlycontribute to the well-being of our patients, assisting our clinical team witha wide range of essential tasks. From taking blood samples as a phlebotomist toproviding compassionate hands-on care, your contributions will have a directimpact on patient outcomes. Main duties of the job
Assist the clinical team in providing high-quality care, including recording vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiratory rate).
Perform phlebotomy as required.
Support patients during appointments, procedures, and health checks.
Prepare and assist patients for minor procedures under clinical guidance.
Collect specimens (e.g., urine, blood) ensuring proper handling and documentation.
Assist patients with mobility needs and support elderly/disabled patients.
Manage patient records confidentially using practice management software (e.g., Vision / EMIS).
Maintain, clean, and sterilize clinical equipment.
Assist with medical supplies stock control, including ordering and checking levels.
Collaborate with GPs, nurses, and staff to ensure efficient practice operation.
Maintain a clean, safe working environment, adhering to infection control and health and safety guidelines.
Ensure the practice is welcoming, offering emotional support when needed.
Provide relevant health information on lifestyle changes, preventive care, and health topics.
Support health education initiatives and assist with organizing health campaigns and services.
Participate in CPD and relevant training.
