It has a primary role in providing Senior Risk and Business executives with consistent and independent views and recommendations on all aspects of country/sovereign risk and more generally on macroeconomic issues that could impact HSBC activities. As the demands of Regulators and our own internal Risk requirements have increased, the unit has developed and owns the methodology for the Group level country risk framework (including appetite) for individual countries, and plays an important role in country, regional and global stress testing.
In this role, you will:
1. Provide direct support for the Global Head of Country Risk
2. Oversee country risk assessments and enhance the quality of country risk and macroeconomic analysis.
3. Ensure that the Sovereign and country models remain fit for purpose, including endorsement by the regulator noting their impact on specific portfolios and on other assessment models.
4. Develop and maintain strong working relationships (including constructive challenge) with stakeholders in the Global businesses, to increase the team’s contribution to the bank’s international strategy.
5. Contribute to the development of stress testing scenarios and risk modelling frameworks.
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
1. Proven experience in a senior Country and Sovereign role within a bank or External rating agency.
2. Strong expertise in macroeconomics, particularly in relation to Country and Sovereign risk.
3. In-depth understanding of the financial sector and how Country and Sovereign risks impact market dynamics.
4. A demonstrated ability to provide forward-looking, analytical insights into economic and political risks at both the country and sovereign levels.
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with meticulous attention to detail.
6. Proven experience of supporting analytical and communication skills development of team members.
This is a hybrid role and can be based in London, with a requirement to be in the office at least twice a week.
You’ll achieve more when you join HSBC.
