We are looking for a motivated and experienced Public Services Lecturer to join our academic team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a passion for public services to inspire and educate students preparing for careers in this vital sector. As a Public Services Lecturer, you will deliver engaging lessons that cover a broad range of topics related to public services, including law enforcement, fire services, emergency management, and social services.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lesson Planning & Delivery: Design, prepare, and deliver comprehensive lessons across various public services topics, including public sector roles, government policies, legal frameworks, and emergency services.
* Assessment & Feedback: Develop and implement assessments to monitor student progress, offering constructive feedback to help students develop professionally and academically.
* Student Support: Provide individualised support to students, assisting them with academic challenges and guiding them toward successful careers in the public services sector.
* Curriculum Development: Contribute to the continuous development and enhancement of the public services curriculum, ensuring it remains relevant and up-to-date with industry standards and legislation.
* Classroom Management: Maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment, encouraging active participation and professional conduct.
* Industry Collaboration: Stay informed of industry trends, policies, and developments to provide students with current, real-world knowledge and case studies.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
* A degree in Public Services, Criminology, Social Policy, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
* A relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
* Proven experience in teaching public services or a related field, ideally within an educational or vocational setting.
* Strong understanding of the public services sector, including law enforcement, fire services, healthcare, social care, and emergency management.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
* A commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning environment for all students.
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
* Experience teaching or training students in public services at Further Education or higher education level.
* Ability to incorporate real-world examples and industry case studies into lessons to enhance student learning.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
* A proactive, student-focused approach to teaching and academic support.
* Knowledge of current trends and challenges within the public services sector.
