MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:
To carry out and monitor day-to-day operations on site for all matters of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality in line with the agreed scope of works.
Must be willing to travel.
RELATIONSHIPS:
a) Responsible to: Operations Manager
b) Responsible for: Earthworks Team
c) Liaison with: Directors, Managers, Employees, Clients
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the site.
2. Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
3. Control and monitor all activities on site.
4. Support the achievement of perfect delivery.
5. Ensure the daily programming of all site works is performed in accordance with the company construction program.
6. In conjunction with the project manager, site engineer and construction manager plan and review overall status of project(s) on an ongoing basis.
7. Ensure all site resources (labour, machinery, materials, sub-contractors etc) are effectively utilised and monitored in order to achieve timely completion of projects.
8. Identify and record any possible variations to the contract, ensuring the project manager/construction manager is promptly notified.
9. Ensure that all statutory requirements are adhered to on site at all times.
10. Make a deliberate effort to gain a full understanding and working knowledge of the Company’s SHEQ policies and procedures, ensuring all site personnel adhere to them at all times.
11. Ensure the appropriate safety equipment is worn by site personnel at all times.
12. Ensure that all requests to perform unsafe work practices that may result in damage to machinery, people or property are declined.
13. Ensure all the applicable quality checklists are properly completed.
14. Ensure that the company’s management systems and processes are understood, fully adhered to and communicated to the site team.
15. Work alongside site and safety staff to ensure projects are running safely and efficiently in accordance with all current legislation/industry best practice and to maximize profitability at all times.
16. Promote good practice of material sustainability to reduce waste.
17. Undertake any other appropriate duties under the direction of your Line Managers, commensurate with the role and within your capabilities.
18. Comply with the company’s Factory Production Control Manual in support of SRC Quality Objectives.
19. Act in accordance with the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and practices, highlighting any issues appropriately.
20. Maintain accurate site diaries detailing site conditions, progress and the resources available to undertake the work activities against agreed programmes.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
1. Enthusiastic, committed and a fast learner with previous experience of a busy environment.
2. As an experienced foreman, you will ideally be educated to NVQ Level 3, have experience working on large projects, and have previous experience at supervisory level. Knowledge of traditional construction activities is essential.
3. Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise with external customers and contacts.
4. Solid organisational skills and the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
5. Preferably recognised qualification to operate Plant (preferably CPCS) or working towards it.
6. Experience with operating and basic maintenance of crushers and excavators; Clean UK driving license.
7. SSSTS or equivalent.
8. Clean UK driving license.
