About The Role
From cars to construction, wiring to plumbing - help to shape our Technical Industries as a Deputy Head.
EKC Dover College is looking to appoint a Deputy Head of Department to join our thriving Technical Industries team. In this pivotal role, you will take charge of enhancing the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment across a diverse range of fields including construction, engineering, electrical, manufacturing, and automotive. You will play a key role in monitoring performance metrics and initiating swift, impactful interventions to drive continuous improvement.
As a Deputy Head you will:
* Lead efforts to improve the quality of teaching, learning, and assessment within the Technical Industries department (construction, engineering, electrical, manufacturing, automotive).
* Collaborate with the Head of Department to develop and implement the department's curriculum, ensuring it meets industry standards and community needs.
* Support the strategic planning and execution of departmental goals, aligning them with EKC Group's broader vision.
* Implement and monitor the department's quality improvement plan to enhance the student experience.
* Analyse departmental data (retention, achievement, attendance, student satisfaction) on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy and identify areas for improvement.
* Develop and execute timely and effective interventions based on data analysis to drive student success.
* Work closely with industry partners to ensure the curriculum is current and aligned with real-world requirements.
About You
As a Deputy Head you work alongside the Head of Department in overseeing the delivery of programmes and courses. You will have a proven track record of driving high standards and implementing improvements within a department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate closely with the Head of Department to ensure the effective delivery of programmes and courses, maintaining high standards of quality.
* Take responsibility for completing staff appraisals, conducting teaching and learning observations, and holding one-on-one meetings with staff members.
* Line manage a team of lecturers and support staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support to enhance their performance.
* Assist in the development and implementation of strategies to improve teaching quality and student outcomes.
* Serve as the first point of contact for programme leaders in the absence of the Head of Department, ensuring smooth communication and continued operations.
* Utilise your experience in further education environments to support lecturing staff in delivering high-quality teaching to young people.
With a background in education, a teaching qualification, and experience in leading teams, you will be well-equipped to make a significant contribution to the department's success and ongoing improvement.
