Location: The role will be based in one of BBC Media Action’s offices in Africa or Asia. Current BBC Media Action offices are in the following cities, and the role could be based in any of these, subject to the prevailing security situation at the time of appointment: Abuja, Addis Ababa, Dar Es Salaam, Delhi, Dhaka, Freetown, Hargeisa, Jakarta, Juba, Kabul, Kathmandu, Lusaka, Nairobi, Phnom Penh, Tunis, Yangon.

Salary: The successful applicant will be employed and based in their home country, with salary set according to BBC Media Action’s local pay scales in that country.
This role may involve working with groups of vulnerable children, youth, and adults. For the successful candidate, mandatory training will be provided on BBC Media Action’s safeguarding policy and staff code of conduct. BBC Media Action operates a zero-tolerance policy concerning all forms of abuse and exploitation of vulnerable people. A police background check may form part of the recruitment process.
Job Purpose
The Partnerships, Compliance and Due Diligence Manager will contribute to the effectiveness and impact of both projects by supporting the Senior Finance and Operations Manager to ensure that our partner financial systems, procedures and reporting are high quality and compliant with requirements of BBC Media Action and our donors.
Main Responsibilities
* Support organization’s receiving grants from BBC Media Action in the proper management of their grants.
* Carry out due diligence checks and reviews on partner organization including collection of partner policies and documentation.
* Ensure partners understand rules, regulations and requirements of BBC Media Action and donors.
* Carry out spot checks for partner organisations to review supporting documentation and ensure accuracy of financial reports.
* Ensure all relevant organisations and personnel are checked against relevant sanctions lists.
* Receive and review partner reports to ensure financial monitoring is up to date and correctly documented. Alert the Senior Finance and Operations Manager regarding any performance or financial reporting issues.
* Update and monitor partners’ budget to ensure the partners are following the forecast and spending to plan.
* Support the Senior Finance and Operations Manager in evaluating partner capacities and concluding appropriate contracts. Including supporting the development and monitoring of capacity building plans.
* Work with the Senior Finance and Operations Manager and Project Lead to develop guidance notes and training for partners.
* Responsible to ensure the monthly/quarterly advance requests submitted on time by the partners and are properly verified, checked, and obtained signature from appropriate authorized person.
* Support Partner with any project close out.
* If required, conduct field visit to monitor partners for the financial matters and prepare monitoring field visit report to highlight the observation, implication, and recommendation on the respect of the matters identified.
* Support BBC Media Action country office staff to ensure processes are in place to ensure compliance with donor requirements.
* Provide support on project audits, including preparation of audit file.
Are you the right candidate?
* Experience of working in the charity sector and working knowledge of EC and FCDO grant compliance requirements.
* Experience in sub-grant management.
* Experience of reviewing project financial reports and reconciling financial data.
* Ability to provide suggestion or recommendation to partners on their activities.
* Organised with ability to prioritise own workload effectively, to coordinate activities and conflicting demands to ensure that tight deadlines are met.
* Effective communication skills with the ability to work well with range of people at all levels.
* Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in regards of financial data management.
* Proficient computer skills with strong experience of office software packages and experience of finance packages(i.e. Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
* Ability to use own initiative with minimal supervision and deal with routine queries as they arise, escalating to others as necessary.
Desirable skills, knowledge, and experience:
* Experience of SAP and/or Access Dimensions.
* Familiarity with FCDO or EC funding and compliance requirements (ideally both).
* Good contextual understanding of international development contexts, ideally with specific experience of one or more of the following countries; Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Sierra Leone, and / or Zambia.
