Fugro GB Ltd, based at our waterfront office in Portchester on the UK’s south coast, specialise in the renewables, unexploded ordnance (UXO), nearshore and utilities survey sectors across north-west Europe.
Our vessels are equipped with industry leading survey systems at the forefront of hydrography and shallow geophysics.
Our projects range from combined multibeam echosounder (MBES) and laser scanning surveys of harbour jetty's through to large scale gradiometer UXO surveys.
We are expanding our geophysics team and are looking for geophysical survey engineers. This is an exciting opportunity to be a key member of a team working on industry leading projects with encouragement and support to learn, develop and progress through the survey industry within a global organisation.
As Geophysical Engineer with Fugro GB ltd you will be responsible for the mobilisation and operation of geophysical and hydrographic survey equipment including acquisition and quality control of data onboard nearshore and offshore survey vessels in north-west Europe, and on occasion worldwide. Our survey vessels are engaged in a variety of geophysical and UXO survey for various marine project development (Windfarms, Cables, O&G).
Offshore contract with up to 200 days offshore per year based on regular 4 weeks rotations.

You'll be working with:
6. New sensor technology on projects with high levels of specification.
7. Colleagues will be multi functional and at various levels.
Here’s what a rotation would be like:
8. Travel to port of crew change/mobilisation
9. Handover day with off-signing engineer, project presentation, vessel induction, Equipment mobilisation.
10. During good weather: deployment of equipment, acquisition of geophysical data
11. During poor weather: recovery and maintenance of geophysical equipment, procedure and documentation review and update
Who we're looking for:
12. Essential
13. We are interested to hear from you regardless of your level of work experience in the industry.
14. A qualification in geophysics, engineering, or closely-related subject is essential;
15. A Bachelor’s degree or higher in geophysics or an engineering discipline, or closely-related subject, is desirable but not essential.
16. Good verbal and written English language skills;
17. Good computer literacy;
18. An ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and clients;
19. Confidence working under pressure to tight deadlines;
20. A high attention to detail, quality and safety;
21. Able to work offshore for periods of up to 4 weeks.
22. Ability to pass offshore medical (OGUK) and offshore Sea Survival.
23. Desirable
24. Offshore/practical experience in oil and gas, ocean science, renewables and/or survey industries;
25. Experience with industry standard geophysical data sets and/or equipment.
