Description and requirements
Skanska, one of the world’s leading project development and construction groups, is delivering a £679 million improvement project on the A428 in Cambridgeshire to bring a new 10-mile dual carriageway between the Black Cat and Caxton Gibbet roundabouts. Working closely with design partner Mott MacDonald, this project builds on Skanska’s long-standing and trusted relationship with National Highways.
This scheme will transform one of the busiest road links in the East of England, helping drivers who live, work and travel in and around the surrounding areas to save time on their journeys and help build a better society.

We are now looking for Site Engineers to join the project. As Site Engineer, you will be supported by the Section Engineer (among others) and are expected to take ownership of the site works of the section, contributing to planning the works and ensuring that the works are constructed in accordance with the design and contract scopes.
You’ll:
1. Communicate effectively with other engineers, supervisors, enabling functions, designers, and client representatives.
2. Write temporary works design briefs to a standard accepted by the Section Engineer & Temporary Works Coordinator.
3. Review designs and raise any queries to your Section Engineer.
4. Contribute to the project 4-week lookahead programme weekly for your works.
5. Work with the Section Engineer and supervisors to manage any clashes with other site works.
6. Understand the design specifications and drawings for your section.
7. Contribute to delivering the Inspection and Test Plans for your works.
8. Identify Non-Conformances and ensure they are promptly reported & closed out.
9. Be familiar with and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Health & Safety policies and procedures (both for the client and Skanska).
10. Be familiar with and demonstrate commitment to the requirements of the Environmental policies and procedures.
We're looking for:
11. Degree level qualification in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering.
12. Effective written and verbal communication skills to diverse audiences.
13. Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles.
14. Working towards or in possession of Professional Industry Qualification (IEng, CEng etc.).
15. Competence with digital tools.
16. Formal training in Health & Safety and Environmental management (SMSTS, SEATS).
17. Relevant CSCS card
18. Setting and experience using engineering surveying tools.
19. Full UK driving licence is required for our highways projects.
20. This opportunity requires legal right to work in the UK.
Preferred experience (not essential):
21. Excavation works (HSG47, CAT & Genny scanning).
22. Concrete works (prior experience as a site-based engineer).
23. Structural steelwork (prior experience as a site-based engineer).
