The BGUK Principal Project Manager Design & Construction role will support the property capital programme for BGUK by ensuring excellence and consistency in programme management and design. The Principal Design & Construction Manager role will take ownership for end-to-end internal customer satisfaction and successfully manage implementations, on boarding and rollout of all new Property Projects. Liaising with internal teams / departments such as the Directors, Heads of, Senior Managers & Change Management, the role holder will translate Bupa property related requirements, creating a spec that is costed and agreed and ensure subsequent development work is delivered as per the internal customer and project brief expectations. The Property strategy is to shape the foundations for Bupas long-term growth by leading the transformation of our buildings and surrounding spaces with essential services and advanced solutions that are socially, environmentally, and economically balanced. This role also includes includes PM support for Bupa Globals overseas property portfolio inclusive of Dubai, Cairo, HK, Copenhagen, Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore, Dublin, and Zurich; as well as the property portfolio occupied by the Group Functions (i.e. the Corporate Head Office at Angel Court, London). The role will require collaboration with stakeholders at varying levels up to Executive Team Level and with teams both internal and external to Bupa throughout the project delivery lifecycle. The role is central to the success of delivery in helping to achieve our strategic goals and realise the benefits from our investment in change. Key competencies and experience • In depth understanding of Facilities Management in different types of property. • Educated to degree level or equivalent in a Business or Project Management discipline. • Experience of managing the design and implementation of high-profile construction & fitout projects. • 10 years experience of an in-house property function for a major corporate. • Project management qualification or track record including project planning and implementation, financial control, the assessment of contract strategies, contract supervision safety and associated environmental management. • Experienced in the use of the normal range of business and project management software • A good working knowledge of the Construction Design and Management Regulations with demonstrable experience of site safety management. • Track record of project managing new build and refurbishment developments throughout the lifecycle. • Ability to cope with fast-paced refurbishment programmes. • Experienced and confident with main contractors during the delivery phase, monitoring progress, quality and safety aspects of the contract and dealing robustly with deviations. • Ability to provide innovative ways of solving or pre-empting client requirements. • People Management experience of small teams. • The stature, knowledge, personality, and communication skills to rapidly gain credibility with managers, both internally and externally, and to influence key decision makers. • Demonstrated experience and ability in providing strategic and commercial input into the management and planning. • Strong results orientation with a track record of achieving superior results. • Strong leadership and management skills. Qualifications required • RICs Qualified Surveyor Desirable Experience • Quantity Surveying qualification – Batchelors preferable • EA – Employers agent experience • JCT contract preparation experience • Previous experience delivering certified fitouts BREEAM, WELL, LEED. • NEBOSH certification. • CAD capability and BIM awareness would be desirable. • Membership of relevant technical body e.g.: Chartered Institute of Building; Association of Project Managers would be an advantage. • International experience in delivering property projects.
