Our client is a long-established successful specialist manufacturing engineering SME serving customers in high reliability sectors which include the regulated and demanding nuclear, defence and aerospace markets. The Company specialises in designing and manufacturing detector products across a diverse range of applications for UK and export markets.
About the role:
1. In this role, you will be programming and operating a 3 & 4 axis XYZ CNC machine with a Siemens (Heidenhain experience considered) control producing nuclear and aerospace standard products in small quantities, typically from 5 to 20 off.
2. You will directly program the machine from engineering drawings and carry out initial inspection when producing first offs.
3. Much of the work is subject to 100% inspection, and is fully supported by an inspection department, so you will perform in process inspection routinely.
4. Experience of off-line programming in HyperMILL is desirable however training can be provided.
5. Control of potential cross-contamination of materials is critical and the role will also include the day-to-day housekeeping of machines and strict adherence to quality control standards and processes.
6. Materials machined are predominantly Stainless Steel, Aluminium and Titanium, however other alloys and plastics are also machined.
7. The successful applicant is likely to have had well grounded several years’ experience of programming and operating a 5-axis machine, in a high-quality regulated environment for applications in defence/nuclear/aerospace markets and wants to be a pro-active member of a small team of skilled machinists.
