The Surgical Services Management Team are looking to appoint a Surgical Coordinator to support the provision of high-quality patient care through dedicated administrative and clerical support and continuous improvement.
Working as part of a team of three Coordinators and three Support Coordinators, the post holder will be the point of contact for all administrative and clerical issues relating to patients’ pathway of care, tracking and supporting them from referral to treatment and discharge.
The post holder will provide a patient-focused service that supports clinical staff in the provision of efficient integrated pathways that enable the best use of resources and ensure that patients are fit, willing, and able to be treated and that they are treated in the right place, by the right person, at the right time.
Main duties of the job
* Demonstrate advanced communication and organisational skills, using initiative and problem-solving skills.
* Exhibit excellent attention to detail and a passion for patient care.
* Ensure efficient and effective use of the theatre and endoscopy sessions.
* Play a central role within this service and work in close liaison with NHS colleagues, patients, and the general public.
* Manage waiting lists in accordance with the Patient Access Policy and achieve government and JAG waiting time standards.
* Be responsible for the addition and removal from waiting lists and recording all relevant patient information. This may be in response to a clinician, patient, or management request.
* Monitor the Patient Target List (PTL) daily to ensure government access standards are not breached, escalating any potential breaches and taking appropriate action to resolve capacity issues.
* Manage waiting lists for patients on the cancer pathway who require endoscopy procedures and/or further surveillance appointments.
